Commercial Burglary

700 block of Capitol Expressway
Officers responded to an alarm call. They found the front door pried open. No suspects or vehicles were seen. The manager for the store came out to the scene. He viewed the surveillance video before coming to the scene. He indicated he saw two males in masks wearing gloves taking items. He agreed to call units to pick up the video as soon as it is available.

Strong-Armed Robbery

Monterey Road and Cottage Grove Drive
Officers viewed video of a strong-armed robbery that had occurred the day before at Fruitdale and Southwest Expressway. The victim supplied officers with updated suspect vehicle information. The next day, an officer observed a vehicle that matched the new description and made an investigative stop. The driver and passenger matched the two suspect descriptions from the event. Fraud/Burglary was contacted and responded to the scene. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and transported to PPC. The driver made a full confession and both suspects were booked for strong-armed robbery and elder fraud.

Robbery – Purse Snatch

Prevost Court / Willow
A 61-year-old female was walking toward her residence when a male adult in his 20s, medium build, grabbed her purse and pulled it off her arm. The suspect got into a red pickup driven by another male, also in his 20s.

Assault with Deadly Weapon

Virginia / Drake RR Tracks
Friends brought an 18-year-old female with a stab wound to a local hospital. The victim was walking on the railroad tracks when she was approached by three females. One of the females called out to the victim then stabbed her. The victim then walked to her friend’s house. The wound is not life-threatening.

Burglary, Robbery

600 block of Curtner
Two female suspects crawled through the unlocked drive-thru window of the Jack in the Box restaurant. The suspects confronted three employees behind the counter. One suspect demanded cash and simulated a weapon under her shirt. One employee provided a suspect with cash and another employee gave a suspect his property. The two suspects left through the same window and fled on foot.

Search

700 block of Deland Avenue
An officer obtained and served a search warrant for sales of a controlled substance. The search located evidence of sales. Three persons in the search location were arrested for outstanding warrants and under the influence. During the search a male on parole and female companion walked up to the residence. The female was arrested for an outstanding warrant while the male was on parole and in possession of a controlled substance.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon -Shooting

700 block of Menker
Two to three male adults fired several shotgun and 9-mm rounds toward a group in front of the home striking one victim. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury. The suspect vehicle was a four-door white sedan. The same suspects may be responsible for the earlier shooting in District Mary.

Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia/Resisting Arrest

800 block of 1st Street / Sutter
On the above date a possession of narcotic paraphernalia and resisting arrest incident occurred. Officers contacted a subject on a pedestrian stop and attempted to take him into custody. The suspect violently resisted and was subdued with the Taser and baton strikes. The 26-year-old white male suspect was transported to VMC, medically cleared and booked into jail.

Armed Robbery

2900 block of S. Bascom Avenue
A male wearing a ski mask and armed with a shotgun entered a business and demanded money from the register and safe. The suspect escaped and remains at large.

Mayhem

1300 block of Vine Street
A fight between neighbors occurred at the above location. At least four of the 13 males physically struck each other. A 27-year-old male had the top portion of his left ear severed. He was transported to a local hospital. Another 23-year-old male was transported to the hospital for possible head trauma. Both males were treated and released. The suspects are outstanding.

Vehicle Accident, Gas Main Broken

800 block of Leigh Avenue at Fruitdale
A vehicle was rear-ended on Leigh Avenue. It was forced over a curb and rolled onto its side, hitting a fence, wall and gas lines of the apartment complex. The four passengers were rescued and residents were evacuated. PG&E responded and secured the gas main.

300 block of Floyd
The 17-year-old victim was shot while standing outside an apartment complex.

Community Policing Report

Captain Edwards and Lt. Aviles spoke at the John Muir Middle School Parent Empowerment Conference on crime trends in Southern Division and the prevention and intervention programs available. Approximately 120 students, parents and school staff attended.

Armed Robbery

2500 block of Union Avenue Bascom (Maria’s Market)
An armed robbery occurred at the above location. Three suspects wearing masks entered the business with a shotgun and took the money from the cash drawer. No shots were fired and there were no injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Discharge of a Firearm

1138 Willow Street
District “Sam” and “Lincoln” Units responded to the location on a report of a firearm discharged in an occupied dwelling. Units secured the area and had the suspect exit the residence without incident. The male suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges willful and wanton disregard discharge of a firearm.

1700 block of Ewer Drive

Officers responded to the 1700 block of Ewer Drive where a high-voltage line fell on a shed and started a fire. The fire endangered several homes and evacuation of residents was completed. PG&E responded and shut of the power.

Search Warrant

2600 block of Union Avenue
METRO Officers received information that the business at the location was selling illegal weapons (brass knuckles) to underage high school students. A controlled purchase of the illegal weapons was conducted. METRO Officers later served a search warrant at the business. One suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers seized additional weapons. The suspect was transported and booked into county jail. Lt. Porter was on scene.

Major Injury Vehicle Collision

1100 block of Pine Ave
Officers responded to the area for a report of a vehicle collision with unknown injuries. The solo driver was traveling eastbound on Pine when he hit a parked car. The semi-conscious driver displayed signs of alcohol influence. The driver was transported by ambulance to Valley Medical Center where he underwent surgery due to low blood pressure and possible internal injuries. He came out of surgery and was placed in ICU.
